Trial Description

Purpose:

Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as CCI-779, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, can block cancer growth in different ways. Some block the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Others find cancer cells and help kill them or carry cancer-killing substances to them. Giving CCI-779 together with rituximab may kill more cancer cells.

This phase II trial is studying how well giving CCI-779 together with rituximab works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

Patients will receive an infusion of CCI-779 once a week for 4 weeks. They will also receive an infusion of rituximab once a week for 4 weeks during course 1 and once in week 1 (a course is 4 weeks long) during courses 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. Treatment may repeat every 4 weeks for up to 12 courses depending on the tumor's response to treatment.

Patients will be evaluated every 3 months for 1 year, every 4 months for 1 year, every 6 months for 1 year, and once a year for 2 years.

Important:
