How much do your patients know about clinical trials?

NCI has developed two new patient education posters and a pin to increase awareness about clinical trials. You can use these free tools to begin discussions with cancer patients about how a trial may fit in the continuum of their cancer care.

These new posters and pin are meant to:

  • Introduce patients to the concept of a clinical trial
  • Complement education and recruitment efforts
  • Serve as conversation starters to discuss trials in a larger context before exploring specific trials with patients
  • Inform the public and health care professionals that NCI has many clinical trial resources available through:
    • 1-800-4-CANCER (toll-free)
    • LiveHelp instant messaging
    • Email service
All staffed by trained Cancer Information Specialists who can assist with finding information about clinical trials and perform tailored clinical trial searches

Anyone can order the free posters and pin, but they are especially suited for:

  • Clinical research staff at cancer centers
  • Community oncology practices
  • CCOPs and MBCCOPs, NCCCP sites, and other NCI-affiliated networks
  • Advocacy organizations
  • Patients participating in clinical trials

Continuing the clinical trial conversation

Once you start the conversation, the information in The Clinical Trials Education Series can help you continue it. The information is designed for cancer patients, health professionals, and the general public. The educational materials in the series (books, booklets, slides, and videos) can be ordered separately or viewed online.
