6.  Rituximab Helps Patients with Recurrent Lymphomas
(Posted: 10/26/2005, Updated: 11/01/2006) - Two studies from Germany showed the targeted therapy rituximab (Rituxan®) to be effective in treating recurrent or refractory follicular and mantle cell lymphomas. Findings from these studies were presented at the 2005 and 2006 annual meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

7.  Initial Treatment with Rituximab is a New Standard for Elderly Patients with B-Cell Lymphoma
(Posted: 07/10/2006) - Elderly patients with B-cell lymphoma stayed disease-free for significantly longer when they were treated with the drug rituximab, a finding that establishes a new standard of care, according to the July 1, 2006, issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

8.  Rituximab Benefits Younger Patients with Good-Prognosis Diffuse Large-B-Cell Lymphoma
(Posted: 05/03/2006) - Addition of the drug rituximab (Rituxan®) to a standard chemotherapy regimen for diffuse large-B-cell lymphoma significantly increased survival for patients with good-prognosis disease who were younger than 60, according to the May 2006 issue of the Lancet Oncology.

9.  Palifermin Reduces Mouth Sores Caused by Blood Cancer Treatment
(Posted: 12/21/2004) - An experimental drug called palifermin (Kepivance®) reduced both the severity and the duration of sores and ulcers in the mouth in patients who received intensive chemotherapy and radiation to treat lymphoma and other cancers of the blood, according to a report in the Dec. 16, 2004, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

10.  Rituximab (Rituxan ®) Improves Response Rate in Mantle Cell Lymphoma
(Posted: 06/05/2004, Reviewed: 04/30/2007) - Rituximab, when added to standard chemotherapy for initial treatment of mantle cell lymphoma, shrank or eliminated tumors in a significantly higher percentage of patients than the standard chemotherapy (CHOP) alone, according to findings presented at the 2004 ASCO meeting in New Orleans.
