Longer Course of Radiation Provides Better Palliation in Advanced NSCLC (Posted: 01/30/2007) - In patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and a poor outlook, a longer, less intense course of radiation treatment improved patients' life expectancy and was cost-effective, according to the Dec. 20, 2006, Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Palifermin Reduces Chemotherapy-Induced Mouth Sores in Colorectal Cancer Patients (Posted: 12/13/2006) - The drug palifermin reduced the frequency and severity of mouth sores caused by the chemotherapy drug fluorouracil in patients with advanced colorectal cancer, according to the Nov. 20, 2006, Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dexamethasone Helps Control Radiation-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (Posted: 08/28/2006) - Addition of the steroid drug dexamethasone to standard supportive care for patients undergoing radiation therapy to the stomach area provided significantly better complete control of vomiting, lower levels of nausea, and less use of emergency anti-nausea medications during the course of treatment, according to the July 20, 2006, issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

15. For Cancer-Related Appetite Loss, Cannabis Is No Better than Placebo (Posted: 08/09/2006) - THC taken alone, or combined with another marijuana compound that reduces THC's psychoactive effects, is no more effective than a placebo at enhancing appetite for advanced cancer patients, according to the July 20, 2006, issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
