Taxanes inhibit the growth of cancer cells by preventing breakdown of substances called microtubules. In the following video, seen under high microscopic magnification, normal cell division and microtubule formation can be seen on the right side of the screen and uncontrolled microtubule formation as seen in cancer can be viewed on the left side of the screen.
