Funded K22 Grants
The K22-Transition Career Development Award is for doctoral-degree clinical or research fellows working in all areas of cancer research, who are currently receiving support in a mentored non-independent position. Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of post-graduate cancer research, but cannot have more than a total of 8 years of mentored non-independent positions at the time of application submission or resubmission. Candidates must be ready to transition into their first academic faculty position. A unique feature of this award is that postdoctoral individuals do not need an institution to guarantee a tenure-track faculty position at the time of applications; if the application is assigned a fundable score, an applicant then has up to 12 months in which to identify and accept a tenure-track faculty position at an appropriate domestic institution that is acceptable by NCI.
The award provides nonrenewable support for up to three years at $100,000 annual salary and $50,000 annual research support. The K22 requires a minimum of 75% effort commitment to the research and career development objectives of the award.
