The NCI Mentored Cancer Prevention, Control, Behavioral Sciences, and Population Sciences Career Development Award (K07) supports early-stage investigators who want to pursue research careers in the cancer prevention, control, population and/or behavioral sciences.

Applicant Eligibility

  • At the time of the award, the candidate must be a citizen of the United States, or a non-citizen national, or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence and possess an Alien Registration Receipt Card (1-151 or 1-551) or some other verification of legal admission as a permanent resident.
  • Citizenship or green card is not needed to apply. Citizenship or green card is needed at the time of award issuance.
Foreign Nationals and Student VisasNot eligible for this award
Degree/Academic AppointmentPostdoctoral fellow, non-tenure-track junior faculty, and tenure-track Assistant Professor in the first two years of the appointment.
Effort Level/ CommitmentCandidate must commit a minimum 9.0 calendar months (75%) full-time professional effort to the K07 career development award.
Duration of the Award3-5 yrs
The K07 award is not renewable.

Financial Support

SalaryUp to $100K/ yr + fringe benefits
Research Development Support: tuition/fees, supplies/equipment, technical services and personnel, travel, and statistical supportUp to $30K/ yr
F & A costs/Indirect costs8%
Ancillary Personnel Support; salary for mentors, secretarial and administrative assistance, etc.Not Allowed
