Introduction
The Career Enhancement Award for Stem Cell Research (K18) supports investigators who need training and career development in the appropriate use of stem cells in research and have not yet engaged in such research.

| Effort Level/ Commitment | The candidate must devote at least 6 person-months (equivalent to 50% full-time professional effort) to the activities of the K18 career development award |
| Duration of Award | 0.5-2 yrs The K18 award is not renewable |
Financial Support
| Salary | Up to $100K/ yr + fringe benefits |
| Research Development Support; allowable expenses, consultant fees for the mentor, travel | Up to $50K/ yr |
| F & A costs/Indirect costs | 8% |
| Ancillary Personnel Support; Salary for mentors, secretarial and administrative assistance, etc. | Not Allowed |
