Alternate Title Phase II Study of Imatinib Mesylate in Patients With Recurrent Small Cell Lung Cancer
Trial Description Imatinib mesylate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for cancer cell growth. Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of imatinib mesylate in treating patients who have recurrent small cell lung cancer.
Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial. Patients will receive imatinib mesylate by mouth twice a day. Treatment may continue for as long as benefit is shown. Patients will be evaluated periodically for up to 3 years.
