Trial Description

Purpose:

Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells.

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining oxaliplatin with paclitaxel in treating patients who have locally recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

• At least 18 years old
• Measurable disease
• No brain metastases
• More than 4 weeks since chemotherapy or radiation therapy

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

Patients will receive a 3-hour infusion of paclitaxel and a 2-hour infusion of oxaliplatin. Treatment may be repeated every 3 weeks for as long as benefit is shown.

After finshing treatment patients will be evaluated every 3 months
