Trial Description

Purpose:

Drugs used in chemotherapy such as sirolimus use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of sirolimus in treating young patients with relapsed or refractory acute leukemia or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

• Younger than 22 years old
• At least 1 week since biological therapy
• At least 3 months since previous bone marrow or stem cell transplantation
• At least 4 weeks since radiation therapy to the brain and spinal cord

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

Patients will receive sirolimus by mouth once a day for as long as benefit is shown. Patients will be evaluated periodically.
