Trial Description

Purpose:

Studying individuals and families at high risk for cancer may help to identify other persons at risk and identify cancer genes.

This clinical trial is studying genetic and environmental factors related to cancer risk in individuals and families at high risk for cancer.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

  • 1 month to 95 years old
  • Known or suspected cancer risk factors, such as family or personal history of cancer or environmental or genetic factors known to increase risk of cancer
  • For more information about the eligibility criteria for this trial, refer to the Health Professional version.

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

One family member will complete a family history questionnaire to verify the diagnosis and create a family pedigree. Individuals and families will undergo a physical evaluation and have blood samples drawn for testing. Some patients may undergo additional diagnostic studies and examinations. A family participating in the study may undergo genetic testing. Genetic counseling will be offered to all individuals who undergo genetic testing. Families will be evaluated every 1-2 years. Some individuals and families will be evaluated more frequently.

Important:

For more details about this trial, refer to the Health Professional version of the trial summary.
