NCT00032058

Trial Description

Purpose:

Imaging procedures such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) may improve the ability to detect the extent of prostate cancer. It is not yet known if MRI combined with MRSI is more effective than MRI alone in detecting the extent of prostate cancer.

Diagnostic trial to compare the effectiveness of combining MRI with MRSI to that of MRI alone in determining the extent of prostate cancer in patients who are scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the prostate gland.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

At least 6 weeks after biopsy, patients will undergo MRI and MRSI. Within 6 months, patients will undergo surgery to remove the prostate gland.
