Infigratinib Phosphate

Placeholder slot
 (IN-fig-RA-tih-nib FOS-fayt)

Infigratinib phosphate works by blocking the activity of abnormal FGFR2 proteins that signal cancer cells to divide. This keeps cancer cells from growing and may kill them. It may also prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. Infigratinib phosphate is a type of targeted therapy drug called a kinase inhibitor. It is a small-molecule drug (a drug that can enter cells easily).

Use in Cancer

Infigratinib phosphate is approved to treat:

  • Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) that has spread and cannot be removed with surgery. It is used in adults whose cancer has been treated and has an FGFR2 gene fusion or other change in the structure of the FGFR2 gene.

Infigratinib phosphate is approved under FDA’s Accelerated Approval Program. As a condition of approval, confirmatory trial(s) must show that it provides a clinical benefit in these patients.

Infigratinib phosphate is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
