e-ASIA Joint Research Program

The e-ASIA Joint Research Program (JRP) formulates and supports international joint research projects in the East Asian Region on a multilateral basis, while promoting researcher interaction and collaboration.  The goals of the e-ASIA JRP are to develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in science and technology, promote innovation in Asian, and contribute to the region’s economic development.

Formally inaugurated on June 28, 2012, member organizations represent public funding institutions of ten ASEAN member countries, plus Australia, Japan, New Zealand, China, India, Korea, Russia, and the United States.

The e-ASIA JRP allows participating members the opportunity to formulate a mutually beneficial framework open to countries outside the region. Members jointly implement research and development to promote innovation in the region, overcoming common issues and facilitating capacity building and mobility of human resources.

The National Cancer Institute, through the Center for Global Health (CGH), and in conjunction with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, support the e-ASIC JRP initiative, representing NIH on the eASIA JRP Board. In this capacity,CGH has prioritized research on cancers associated with chronic infections within the JRP and anticipates funding new research on this topic.

The e-ASIA JRP is open to both NIH grantees and intramural investigators.
