NCI’s research buying power is $1.1 billion less than 20 years ago. NCI’s 2003 actual budget was $4.59 billion. In 2023, NCI’s actual budget was $7.10 billion and the 2003 BRDPI-adjusted budget for 2023 was projected to be $8.21 billion.  This difference between the 2023 actual budget and the 2023 BRDPI-adjusted budget represents a 13% reduction in buying power in 2023 compared with 2003.
