A substance being studied in the treatment of several types of cancer. It comes from the seed of the cotton plant (
Gossypium). It blocks the growth of cells and may kill cancer cells. Cottonseed meal toxin may also act as a male contraceptive (a type of birth control). Also called gossypol.
