Introduction
The Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) facilitates early-stage basic scientists to make a timely transition from a mentored postdoctoral research position to a stable independent research position earlier than is currently the normal transition time.
Research Supported by the NCI K99/R00 award must use human cells and/ or tissues.

Applicant Eligibility
| Citizens, Foreign Nationals and Student Visas | U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizen/permanent residents are eligible to apply for this award providing that the sponsoring institution includes an assurance that their visas will allow them to remain in the United States long enough to (a) transition to an independent research career in the U.S. during the proposed mentored (K99) phase and (b) be productive on the research project in the U.S. for the duration of the proposed independent research (R00) phase. |

R00 Transition Application Information
