Talquetamab-tgvs works by bringing healthy T cells (immune cells that help kill cancer cells) and myeloma cells close together so the T cells can more effectively kill the the myeloma cells. It does this by binding to a protein called CD3 on healthy T cells and a protein called GPRC5D on myeloma cells. Talquetamab-tgvs is a type of targeted therapy drug called a bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE).

Use in Cancer

Talquetamab-tgvs is approved to treat:

Multiple myeloma that has come back or did not respond to treatment. It is used in adults who have received at least four treatments that included an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, a proteasome inhibitor, and an immunomodulating agent.

Talquetamab-tgvs is approved under FDA’s Accelerated Approval Program. As a condition of approval, confirmatory trial(s) must show that it provides a clinical benefit in these patients.

Talquetamab-tgvs is only available as part of a special program called Tecvayli and Talvey REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies).
