Description of the Evidence

Added text about a nationwide Danish cohort study with data from 1995 to 2009 that observed an even stronger association between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and anal cancer; among men with anal cancer, the Danish study observed a mortality rate ratio of 3.2 for HIV-positive men compared with men in the general population (cited Legarth et al. as reference 20).

This summary is written and maintained by the PDQ Screening and Prevention Editorial Board, which is editorially independent of NCI.
