Added text about a nationwide Danish cohort study with data from 1995 to 2009 that observed an even stronger association between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and anal cancer; among men with anal cancer, the Danish study observed a mortality rate ratio of 3.2 for HIV-positive men compared with men in the general population (cited Legarth et al. as reference 20).
