Added text to state that in a meta-analysis, evaluation of the association of specific carotenoids by smoking status found similar associations among never, former, and current smokers.
Added text to state that one large prospective study found no association between leaner body mass and lung cancer among never smokers, and that analyses restricted to never smokers were substantially weaker but in most instances still significant.
Added text to state that when examined by smoking habits, similar associations were observed for nonsmokers versus ever smokers; light versus heavier smokers; and never, former and current smokers.
