This trial studies how well wearable exercise tracker watch works in monitoring physical activity in participants during cancer rehabilitation. A wearable exercise tracker watch may be helpful to monitor physical activity.
Study sponsor and potential other locations can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov for NCT03042884.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
I. To obtain preliminary exploratory data on cancer patients’ perception of usefulness of a wearable exercise tracker (Fitbit Charge HR) to monitor physical activity in both inpatient and outpatient settings, separately.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:
I. To identify subgroups of patients (age, gender, race, socioeconomic status, symptom burden [as measured by the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale (ESAS)], functional status [as measured by Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scores], activity level and cancer type) who express a higher level (if patients answered partially agree or strongly agree in the self-reported de-identified questionnaire) of usefulness of a wearable exercise tracker.
OUTLINE: Participants are assigned to 1 of 2 arms.
ARM I: Outpatient participants wear exercise tracker watch over 24 hours per day for 14 days.
ARM II: Inpatient participants wear exercise tracker watch over 24 hours per day until within 24 hours before discharge.
