Local Consolidative Therapy to Extend the Efficacy of Systemic Therapy in Oligoprogressive Metastatic Cancer, EXTEND-OP Trial

Trial Status: active

This phase II/III trial tests the effectiveness of local consolidative therapy (LCT) with systemic therapy to improve control of cancer that has spread from where it first started (primary site) and has progressed to a limited number of places in the body (oligoprogressive metastatic). LCT, such as radiation, surgery, and ablation, are therapies designed to kill tumor cells left after initial treatment. Systemic therapy uses substances that travel through the bloodstream, reaching and affecting cells all over the body. LCT with systemic therapy may be effective in improving response in patients with oligoprogressive metastatic cancer.
