Nab-paclitaxel with Cisplatin or Cetuximab in Treating Patients with Stage III-IVb Head and Neck Cancer

Trial Status: complete

This phase II trial studies how well nab-paclitaxel with cisplatin or cetuximab works in treating patients with stage III-IVb head and neck cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as nab-paclitaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving monoclonal antibody therapy with chemotherapy may kill more cancer cells than chemotherapy alone.
