Ipilimumab, Nivolumab, and Thoracic Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients with Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer after Chemotherapy

Trial Status: complete

This phase I/II trial studies best dose of ipilimumab and nivolumab and how will they work when given together with thoracic radiation therapy in treating patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer after chemotherapy. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as and ipilimumab and nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving ipilimumab, nivolumab, and radiation therapy may work better in treating patients with small cell lung cancer.
