Whole Pelvis Radiation Therapy and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy in Reducing Treatment-Related Post-traumatic Stress in Patients with Stage IB-IVB Cervical Cancer Who Refuse or Are Medically Unable to Receive Brachytherapy

Trial Status: administratively complete

This phase II trial studies how well whole pelvis radiation therapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy work in reducing post-traumatic stress in patients with stage IB-IVB cervical cancer who refuse or are medically unable to receive brachytherapy. Whole pelvis radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Stereotactic body radiation therapy uses special equipment to position a patient and deliver radiation to tumors with high precision. This method can kill tumor cells with fewer doses over a shorter period and cause less damage to normal tissue. Giving whole pelvis radiation therapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy together may work better than brachytherapy in reducing post-traumatic stress in patients with cervical cancer.
