Olaparib, Cabazitaxel, Carboplatin, and Prednisone in Treating Patients with Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Trial Status: temporarily closed to accrual

This phase II trial studies how well olaparib, cabazitaxel, carboplatin, and prednisone work in treating patients with prostate cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Olaparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cabazitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as prednisone lower the body’s immune response and are used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of cancer. Giving olaparib, cabazitaxel, carboplatin, and prednisone may work better in treating patients with prostate cancer.
