360-Degree HoloLens Display in Providing Guidance during Percutaneous Ablation Procedure in Patients with Solid Liver Tumors

This trial studies how well a 360-degree holographic display (using the HoloLens headset) works in providing guidance for percutaneous ablation in patients with solid liver tumors. Medical images of cancer are used to guide treatment of tumors. The HoloLens headset and display allows tumors to be viewed in true 3-dimensional (D) images ("360 degrees") during procedures in the operating room. The additional 3D visualization may facilitate complete ablation of solid tumors in the liver or other organs as compared to the standard flat screen display.

Inclusion Criteria

Patients undergoing percutaneous thermal ablation of solid liver tumors at Cleveland Clinic as clinically indicated in the standard of care.
Not pregnant.
Willing and able to give informed consent prior to enrollment. This includes media release form.
Has met all criteria to undergo percutaneous tumor ablation.

Exclusion Criteria

Not willing or able to give informed consent.
Patients with pacemakers or automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICDs).

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

I. Evaluate a 360-degree display (using the HoloLens headset) of the patient-specific treatment plan intra-procedurally at the operative site.

II. Assess basic device functionality, minimal operator acceptability (e.g., ability to target, intra-procedural comfort of the headset), and thus confirm suitability for further clinical use.

OUTLINE:

Patients undergo percutaneous liver tumor ablation using the HoloLens headset and 360-degree holographic display and standard flat-screen to view images.
