An Educational Tool for Improving Knowledge about Tumor Genetic Testing among Black or African American Men with Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Trial Status: active

This clinical trial develops and tests an educational tool for improving knowledge about tumor genetic testing (TGT) among Black or African American men with prostate cancer that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). TGT is a type of test of the tumor deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) that can help doctors personalize treatment for men with metastatic prostate cancer. While TGT is important for treatment decisions and is often recommended for men with metastatic prostate cancer, Black or African American men do not receive as much genetic testing as other groups, which can lead to different health outcomes. This trial evaluates whether a tailored, patient-centered educational tool works to improve knowledge about TGT and willingness to undergo TGT among patients with metastatic prostate cancer.
