Surgery for Mesothelioma after Radiation Therapy “SMART” for Resectable Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

This study evaluates whether radiation therapy decreases tumor size and tumor spread in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma that have undergone or are scheduled to undergo radiation therapy.

Inclusion Criteria

* Subject provides informed consent * Subject is >18 years of age * Subject is deemed competent for making medical decisions * Subject has either undergone or is scheduled to undergo radiation followed by extrapleural pneumonectomy * A negative pregnancy test is required in women of child-bearing potential, as standard of care * Subject is a surgical candidate

Exclusion Criteria

* Subject is <18 years old

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

I. Feasibility, safety and therapeutic effect of the neoadjuvant administration of a short accelerated course of high-dose hypofractionated hemithoracic radiation followed by extrapleural pneumonectomy in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma.

OUTLINE: This is an observational study.

Participants have their medical records reviewed on study.
