Educational Intervention with or without Behavioral Nudge to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening

Trial Status: approved

This clinical trial tests how well an educational brochure, with or without a behavioral nudge, works to increase colorectal cancer screening rates for eligible patients when given with a standard fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kit. Annual colorectal cancer screening with FIT is one of several recommended screening strategies that are noninvasive and can identify patients who may warrant further invasive screening. A behavioral nudge, consisting of a display of the sub-par screening rate of the patient's clinic compared to a collective New York State screening rate and a national screening rate goal, may encourage patients to complete screening. Adding a behavioral nudge to an educational brochure about FIT may increase screening completion rates compared to the educational brochure alone in eligible patients.
