PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
I. To determine whether refluxate deoxycholic acid is associated with increased Notch signaling in the development of EAC.
II. To determine the relationship between Notch signaling with Enterobacteriaceae in the development of EAC.
IIa. To determine the prevalence of biofilms in BE with progression to EAC and relationship to Notch signaling.
OUTLINE: This is an observational study.
Patients undergo collection of saliva, gastric aspirate, upper endoscopy brushing and biopsy samples, complete a survey and have their medical records reviewed on study.
