High-Dose Methotrexate in Treating Patients with Breast Cancer and Leptomeningeal Metastasis

Trial Status: active

This phase II trial studies how well high-dose methotrexate works in treating patients with breast cancer that has spread to the thin layers of tissue that cover and protect the brain and spinal cord called leptomeninges (leptomeningeal metastasis). Chemotherapy drugs, such as methotrexate, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading.
