This randomized clinical trial studies how well the FloTrac monitoring device works in improving surgical outcomes in patients undergoing esophagectomy. FloTrac monitoring device determines the amounts of fluids and medications needed to treat low blood pressure and may work better in treating low blood pressure in patients undergoing esophagectomy.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
I. To ascertain whether the perioperative use of the FloTrac device to guide fluid and vasopressor management during esophagectomy improves patient outcomes.
OUTLINE: Patients are assigned to 1 of 2 groups.
GROUP 1 (CONTROL - NO FLOTRAC): Patients receive usual care to treat low blood pressure before and after esophagectomy.
GROUP 2 (FLOTRAC): Patients receive fluid and medication with specific guidance from the FloTrac monitoring device to treat low blood pressure before and after esophagectomy.
