This trial studies how well an activity tracker (Fitbit) and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) intervention work in monitoring exercise-related metrics and promoting physical activity in overweight or obese participants. Using the Fitbit and CGM may increase motivation in engaging in regular physical activity and encourage participants to have a more healthy lifestyle.
Study sponsor and potential other locations can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov for NCT05124405.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
I. To evaluate the feasibility of a CGM-based physical activity intervention that includes the use of CGM and Fitbit.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE:
I. To examine changes in physical activity motivation and other related psychosocial variables (e.g., intention, perceived benefits, outcome expectancy) before and after the intervention.
EXPLORATORY OBJECTIVES:
I. Examine cancer-related biomarkers and their associations with daily glucose pattern.
OUTLINE:
Participants wear a Fitbit Alta Heart Rate (HR) activity tracker during all waking hours and carry the Freestyle Libre CGM device to check their glucose value in real-time for 10 days or 28 days for cancer survivors.
