SBRT with MRI Guidance in Treating Patients with Liver Metastases

Trial Status: active

This phase IA/IB trial studies the side effects and best dose of targeted radiation therapy called stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) when given together with diagnostic testing such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the liver (liver metastases). Stereotactic body radiation therapy uses special equipment to position a patient and deliver radiation to tumors with high precision. This method can kill tumor cells with fewer doses over a shorter period and cause less damage to normal tissue. Information from the SBRT planning sessions with CT and MRI may show how much radiation the “normal tissue” around the tumor will get.
