This trial studies the use of an automated telehealth system, Symptom Care at Home (SCH), to assist with the care and monitoring of cancer symptoms and symptoms related to COVID-19 in cancer patients. The continued monitoring and care of cancer patients is important during a time when face-to-face contact is not advised due to a very contagious virus in the community. The SCH application may help improve communication by alerting cancer care providers about patients’ symptom concerns when the patient is at home. By doing this, providers may be able to care for patients remotely so they do not have to come into the clinics unless advised.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
I. To describe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and cancer symptom trajectories over time and financial and daily living impacts of participants receiving the SCH intervention.
II. To compare the SCH intervention to enhanced usual care on COVID-19 rates and outcomes, health care utilization, and cancer treatment delays.
OUTLINE: Patients are randomized to 1 of 2 groups.
GROUP I (SCH INTERVENTION): Patients use the Symptom Care at Home application and/or an automated telephone reporting system by phone or videoconferencing to report COVID-19 and cancer-related symptoms daily for up to 4 months. Patients also receive automated coaching and ideas to help manage symptoms during the daily reports. If the COVID-19 public health emergency lasts longer than 4 months, patients may continue using the Symptom Care at Home application.
GROUP II (ENHANCED USUAL CARE): Patients receive information about COVID-19 symptoms, home precautions, and instructions on what to do to address concerns as they arise. Patients also receive information on when to contact the doctor.
