Structured Exercise Training for the Prevention of Decline in Physical Function among Prostate Cancer Patients, RESIST-ADT Trial
Trial Status: closed to accrual
The trial implements an exercise regimen designed to improve muscle mass, muscle strength, and physical function among older men scheduled to undergo androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for their prostate cancer, to prevent a decline in physical function. Men undergoing ADT for treatment of their prostate cancer experience a significant decline in muscle mass and muscle strength, which impacts their physical function, and a significant decrease in health-related quality of life and experience tiredness. This leads to frailty and a higher risk of falls. The information gained from this trial may help researchers learn how structured exercise training could prevent decline in physical function among older men with prostate cancer.
