This phase I trial evaluates a short web-based symptom survey, the Electronic Patient Visit Assessment, for the improvement of pain and quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer. Information gained from this study may be used to help researchers better understand methods to improve symptoms and quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
I. To determine the feasibility of conducting a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the Electronic Patient Visit Assessment (ePVA) as an intervention to improve patient outcomes.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE:
I. Obtain the estimates of the Electronic Patient Visit Assessment (ePVA) effect on participants’ severity of pain and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) to power a larger future trial.
OUTLINE: Patients are randomized to 1 of 2 arms.
ARM I: Patients complete questionnaires and ePVA every other week during radiation therapy treatment and on routine follow-up visits at weeks 4, 12, and 24 after completing treatment.
