Evaluating a Patient Directed Tool (PREVENT) for Assessment of Cardiovascular Health in Endometrial Cancer Survivors
This clinical trial evaluates the use of a patient-directed assessment tool (PREVENT) for assessing heart health of endometrial cancer survivors during their routine follow up care. Nearly two-thirds of endometrial cancer is diagnosed at an early stage and has an excellent overall 5-year survival rate. Endometrial cancer survivors are more likely to die of cardiovascular (heart) disease. In fact, it has been found to be the leading cause of death in endometrial cancer patients. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network recommends cardiovascular disease risk assessment in endometrial cancer patients, but adding this to routine practice may be challenging, and few patients are referred to primary care and cardiology for heart health follow up. PREVENT, a web-based patient-directed tool used to assess heart health, provides an overall heart health score based on risk factors and provides behavior change recommendations to improve heart health. Using the PREVENT heart health assessment tool during routine follow up may help promote heart health in endometrial cancer survivors.
