This clinical trials evaluates the effect of Y-AMBIENT on quality of life in young African American (AA) survivors after treatment for stage I-III breast cancer. Young AA women have a higher incidence of breast cancer and may be at a higher risk of cancer recurrence and treatment-related late effects. Many young AA women report a poorer physical and overall quality of life throughout survivorship. Y-AMBIENT, a telephone-based intervention, includes targeted education sessions, written materials and videos to reinforce the educational content and follow-up telephone calls. Participating in Y-AMBIENT may improve the quality of life in young AA survivors after treatment for stage I-III breast cancer.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
I. Establish the feasibility of participant recruitment and protocol adherence in a pilot trial of the Y-AMBIENT intervention among young AA survivors.
II. Evaluate the Y-AMBIENT intervention protocol.
III. Determine the degree to which the Y-AMBIENT intervention affects early health-related outcomes among young AA survivors.
OUTLINE: Patients participate in three telephone-based themed education sessions over 1 hour each and receive printed and electronic portable document format (PDF) versions of written materials and links to videos to reinforce education session content between baseline and the close of month 1. Patients also receive a follow-up reinforcement telephone call at months 2, 3, and 4.
