Evaluation of Cardiovascular Health Outcomes among Survivors 2, ECHOS2 Study

Trial Status: complete

This clinical trial evaluates cardiovascular health outcomes among childhood cancer survivors. Childhood cancer survivors are at an increased risk of cardiac toxicity due to prior anti-cancer therapy. However, adherence to cardiac screening in this population remains low. Computerized Authoring Intervention Software (CIAS) is a web based intervention that walks the participant through a motivational interviewing process whereby they think through the reasons for and against completing screening. CIAS makes use of an automated avatar (Emmi) who is programed to ask participants questions and lead through several topic areas related to screening. The CIAS pathways also include options for participants to request a link of resources after completion of each session and request a list of previous cancer treatments in order to confirm understanding of personal cancer history. Using CIAS may improve cardiovascular health outcomes and screening among childhood cancer survivors.
