An Online Sexual Health Education Intervention to Improve Sexual Health and Function for Women Undergoing Treatment for Stage I-III Breast Cancer

Trial Status: administratively complete

This clinical trial tests the acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of an online sexual health education intervention for improving sexual health and function among women undergoing treatment for stage I-III breast cancer. As breast cancer patients are living longer, there are temporary and permanent physical and psychological consequences of treatment, many of which impact sexual well-being. These may include visible changes – weight gain, hair loss, scars, missing and/or asymmetric breasts – or invisible changes because of chemically induced menopause – vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, or low libido. Women undergoing treatment for breast cancer desire information on sexual health, function, partner intimacy, body image, and mitigation strategies. Educational materials and resources of this nature are currently lacking in breast cancer care. Receiving the online sexual health educational intervention may improve sexual health and function among women undergoing treatment for stage I-III breast cancer.
