Virtual Health Insurance Education Program (CHAT-S) for Improving Health Insurance Literacy and Surveillance in Young Adult Cancer Survivors

Trial Status: active

This clinical trial tests the effectiveness of an educational intervention (CHAT for Survivors [CHAT-S]) for improving health insurance knowledge and surveillance care in young adult cancer survivors. The completion of cancer treatment is a critical time to establish survivorship care for young adult cancer survivors, yet follow up survivorship care, including surveillance, remains low. Young adult cancer survivors are more likely to have less experience with health insurance than older patients. In fact, young adults have the highest rate of both uninsurance and underinsurance among adults in the United States, which limits access to care. Virtual health insurance education, such as CHAT-S, may be an effective method to help young adult cancer survivors learn about health insurance and what it covers. CHAT-S may improve knowledge of health insurance and increase participation of survivorship care including surveillance in young adult cancer survivors.
