This study evaluates how genetics may influence cancer cachexia, weight loss that can occur from cancer treatment in patients with pancreatic cancer that has locally advanced or spread (metastasized) and is not currently resectable (able to be removed) by surgery.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
I. Evaluate the association between CC (as defined as weight loss ≥ 5% of body weight within 3 months of diagnosis) and each single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in genes linked to inflammation and muscle regulation.
OUTLINE: This is an observational study.
Patients undergo blood and/or buccal swab sample collection and have their medical records reviewed on study.
