Evaluating the Implementation and Effectiveness of the BJC-Pink and Pearl Campaign on Lung Cancer Screening

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

I. To determine the baseline prevalence of lung cancer screening (LCS) eligible women who present for screening mammography and opt-in to LCS, in BJC West County between March 1, 2025, and August 30, 2025.

II. To assess the effectiveness of the Pink and Pearl Campaign on increasing uptake of LCS among women undergoing mammography in BJC West County.

IIa. Using a pre-post design, we will assess the increase in number of women referred from the breast radiology service who successfully complete LCS before and after implementation of the Pink and Pearl campaign.

IIb. To determine the median “time-to-screening” and covariates of “time-to-screening.”

IIc. To determine the prevalence of women who underwent LCS through the Pink and Pearl campaign that have low-dose CT (LDCT)-detected lung nodules requiring further workup, and/or biopsy proven lung cancer.

III. To assess factors influencing LCS uptake and implementation outcomes of the Pink and Pearl campaign.

OUTLINE: This is an observational study.

GROUP I: Patients have their medical records reviewed on study.

GROUP II: Patients complete a survey on study.

GROUP III: Patients and healthcare providers complete an interview on study.
