Remote Therapeutic Monitoring to Increase Physical Activity at Home in Patients with Neurologic and Musculoskeletal Disorders
This clinical trial tests how well remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM) works to increase physical activity at home in patients with neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders. Physical activity (PA) and exercise, particularly high-intensity exercise, are effective physical therapy (PT) interventions for individuals with neurologic disorders. However, when physical therapists promote continuation of these activities in home programs, it is impossible to accurately monitor treatment adherence and response. RTM allows physical therapists to receive more objective information about PA and exercise using fitness devices when they are connected to a cloud-based monitoring platform. RTM monitoring may improve patient outcomes and allow physical therapists to receive exercise information through the platform even when patients don’t have an in-person visit.
