The Cancer Affordability Resources Tool to Improve Patient Knowledge in Patients with Gynecologic, Lung, Prostate, and Colorectal Cancer
This clinical trial tests how well the Cancer Affordability Resources (CARE) Tool works to improve patient knowledge of cancer care costs, health insurance, and resources to help with costs in patients with gynecological, lung, prostate, or colorectal cancer. People with cancer often experience financial challenges (financial toxicity) on top of the burden of having a serious illness. Financial toxicity negatively impacts the health and well-being of patients and families across all financial levels and insurance types. Varying insurance types and unclear information around insurance and costs of care can prevent patients from preparing, which may lead to financial toxicity. The CARE Tool is a web-based tool designed to deliver information about cancer care costs, health insurance, and resources to help with costs. It provides insurance information, prompts patients can use to discuss costs with their providers, and allows patients to answer questions about themselves and their family to receive a cost estimate for their insurance. The CARE Tool may be an effective way to improve patient knowledge of cancer care costs, health insurance, and resources to help with costs in patients with gynecological, lung, prostate, or colorectal cancer.
