Using Enhanced Implementation Strategies (Core+) within HIV Treatment Centers in Nigeria to Improve Cervical Cancer Screening among Women Living with HIV, ACCESS Trial
This clinical trial compares using an enhanced set of implementation strategies (Core+) to a standard set of implementation strategies (Core) within HIV treatment centers in Nigeria to improve cervical cancer (CC) screening among women living with HIV (WLHIV). CC is the second most common cancer in women in Africa and a large contributor to cancer deaths in the region. CC is preventable and curable if diagnosed and treated early. Despite this, in many low- and middle-income countries, the coverage of CC screening and treatment among WLHIV remains low. The Core+ implementation strategies have been enhanced by adding two additional strategies to the standard Core set. The strategies are designed to help clinics implement CC screening, onsite treatment, referral completion, and retention. Researchers hope that using the Core+ implementation strategies within HIV treatment centers may be more effective than the standard set in improving CC screening among WLHIV.
