Nivolumab plus Doxorubicin, Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine for the Treatment of Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients with Early-Stage Non-Bulky Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma

This phase II trial tests how well nivolumab plus doxorubicin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (AVD) works in controlling disease in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with early-stage non-bulky classic Hodgkin lymphoma. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Doxorubicin is in a class of medications called anthracyclines. Doxorubicin damages the cell’s deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and may kill cancer cells. It also blocks a certain enzyme needed for cell division and DNA repair. Vinblastine is a drug that interrupts cell division, which may kill cancer cells or prevent them from growing. Dacarbazine is a drug that disrupts DNA function, causing changes to cell division and cancer cell death. The combination of nivolumab plus AVD may help control early-stage non-bulky classic Hodgkin lymphoma.
